The Hinsdale Falcons 100 Gold team improved
their record to 3-3 on Sunday by defeating the Glendale Heights
Spartans 22 – 0 during Glendale Heights’ homecoming weekend.
Hinsdale took the opening kickoff and immediately drove the ball
54 yards capped by a 36 yard touchdown run by RB Ben Stefani.
The blocking of C Patrick Drew, LG Rorey Seligman and LT Michael
Lord keyed Stefani’s spectacular run. QB Kevin Hale added the
icing on the cake with a 3 yard pass to TE Peter Deering for the
2 point conversion to give the Falcons a 8 – 0 lead.
On the ensuing onsides kickoff Stefani recovered the ball
putting the high-powered Hinsdale offense back on the field.
Hinsdale quickly drove down the field with a powerful drive
ending with RB Trevor Paul hammering the Spartan defense for a 9
yard run to give Hinsdale their second touchdown and a 14 – 0
first half lead. Stefani was personally responsible for getting
3 turnovers as he ended up recovering a 2nd onsides kickoff and
made a great interception later in the game.
Glendale Heights looked to make an early 3rd quarter surge
before being placed in a 3rd down and long thanks to MLB James
Benak (4 tackles, 1 for negative 2 yards), LB Charlie Emmons (4
tackles, 1 for negative 1 yard), DT Matthew Allen (4 tackles)
and DE Matthew Muellner (3 tackles, 1 for negative 10 yards).
Desperate to make a play Glendale Heights’ quarterback went into
shotgun but fumbled the snap that was immediately recovered by
DT Jack Paulson (2 tackles) killing the only good drive of the
game for the Spartans.
Later in the 3rd Quarter, behind the blocking of RG Michael
O’Doherty and RT Alex Jeannin, Stefani ran 2 yards for the final
Falcon touchdown. QB Hale (3 – 5 passing for 32 yards) then
threw a nifty pass to TE Muellner (2 catches for 29 yards) for
the 2 point conversion sealing the Hinsdale victory 22 – 0.
The mighty Hinsdale offense truly decimated the Spartan defense
with 319 yards of total offense, 287 rushing yards by Paul 10 –
101, 10.10 avg., 1 TD, Stefani 7 – 69, 9.86 avg., 2 TDs,
MacKenzie 13 – 75, 5.77 avg., RB Andrew Davis 2 – 9, 4.50 avg.
and RB Jack Dolan 5 – 35, 7.00 avg.
