YOUTH FOOTBALL -- The Hinsdale Falcons 115-pound Silver Red team improved to 2-0 by steamrolling past Lombard 31-0. Every team member came up big, but the defensive line was especially strong, yielding less than 50 total offensive yards.

The defensive line of Eddie Krillenberger, Tommy Dunphy, John Rohan, Brian Foley, Reed Willman, Matt Bradley and Griffin Gartner thoroughly stopped virtually every Lombard advance. Other key tackles were made by Constantine Slone and Louis Finney, John Bomba (interception) and Jack Breslin (key fumble recovery).

The scoring started when running back Alex Byrnes plunged five yards for a touchdown. After a Bradley fumble recovery, quarterback Jack Cinefro threw a 15-yard TD pass to Jack Kelly. Halfback Johnny Campbell continued his excellent play with two TD runs and Cinefro added a sneak for a TD.

Falcons 100 Silver 28, Downers Grove Panthers White 12: The Falcons 100-pound Silver team brought its record to 2-1 with an impressive victory.

The game started with an electrifying opening kickoff when Alex Wallace ran 72 yards, eluding numerous tackle attempts, to score. The Falcons put two more points on the board with a conversion pass from Michael Claussen to Nick Bjorson.

In the second quarter, Nick O'Grady's 49-yard touchdown run, followed by a Claussen pass to Tristen Ciardelli, increased the Falcons' lead to 16-0.

The Falcons running game continued to dominate as penetration by Eli Blacketor, followed by a 78-yard run by Wallace, brought the score to 22-0. A strong defensive line, led by Evan Martucci, Frankie Rayis, and Nick Martucci, along with crushing tackles by Joey Gordon and Chris Heneghan, shut out the Panthers in the first half.

Although the Panthers were able to put some points on the board in the second half, pass coverage by Heneghan and Matt Bjorson, denied extra-point attempts. Good blocking from the offensive line, including Timothy Lindsey, James Gordon and Max Nelepa, allowed O'Grady to score his second touchdown on a Claussen pass.

Falcons 100 Gold 14, Downers Grove Panthers 7: The Falcons 100-pound Gold team walked away with its second victory.

The Panthers scored on their first offensive possession, but this triggered the Falcons' offensive line to turn on the heat, allowing quarterback Michael Sessa (6-for-6 passing for 52 yards, TD) to lead a 54-yard scoring drive. The blocking of Ryan Cohen (team-high 7 key blocks), Doug Kramer (4 tackles), Matt Moreton, Andrew Bitautas and Austin Schwartz opened holes for the running game.

Christian Davis (4 carries, 25 yards) started the attack with two reverse runs. Colin Goss (8 carries, 39 yards) supported the movement through the middle in between Sessa's 22-yard pass connection with Luke Soenen. A 3-yard touchdown pass to Geno Reichert ended the first half.

Hinsdale's defense was determined to maintain the lead in the second half.

Fueled by the crushing blows of Mikey Weingartner and Brett Dougherty, the fearless line of Goss (6 tackles), Peter Nikho, Zak Marinko, Will Hughes and Chris Chute crumbled the Panthers' offense.

Brad Huth's six tackles, coupled with the outside blocking of Ellis Kritzer, opened the door to a Weingartner-Davis sack, forcing a punt. Hinsdale promptly made its way downfield, sparked by Huth's explosive 50-yard run. Goss drove up the middle to pick up 9 yards, in addition to Jake Heiser's 7 yards and thee forceful tackles.

Sessa completed a 15-yard pass to Soenen, which led to a 1-yard pickup by Davis for a touchdown. Soenen made the catch for the two-point conversion. Aaron Vander Linde and Cole Zeno set off the defensive line for the final play -- a huge tackle by Jack Kavanagh resulting in an interception by Huth. Hinsdale's 110 rushing yards was a huge contribution to the victory.
