CHEERLEADING ATTENDANCE

Attendance

Falcon Cheerleading is a team sport whereas full and equal participation of each squad member is crucial to creating a positive, productive and safe experience for ALL cheerleaders. All cheerleaders are expected to be present, and arrive on time, to each practice, game and performance. Full participation of all cheerleaders helps ensure a safe and productive environment for practices, routine development and competition. Consequently, the absence of one cheerleader impacts the safety and success of the entire squad. Proper notification and adherence to attendance policy procedures is expected. The purpose of this policy, as detailed below, is to create the most safe and successful experience for every cheerleader and squad.

• PRACTICES begin August 9th; MANDATORY PRACTICE begins August 16th with 4 days of practice the first 3 weeks. Practice attendance the week of the 9th is STRONGLY SUGGESTED as routine and mount formations are developed and determined based on the ability and cohesiveness of the cheerleaders present.
• Once the school year begins, practices will take place 2 times per week on days to be determined by squad coaches.
• GAMES BEGIN LABOR DAY WEEKEND AND ARE MANDATORY (may be Saturdays or Sundays)
• Regular Season ends SUPER BOWL WEEKEND – November 12th, 13TH &14th. The season may continue through early December for squads that qualify for STATE .
• All squads will participate in at least one COMPETITION during the regular season. Squad coaches may choose to participate in additional competitions.
EXCUSED ABSENCES
• Sickness with a note, death in family, religious obligation.
• Special events (with advance Board approval prior to event).
• NOTE: AN ABSENCE CANNOT BE EXCUSED FOR ANOTHER SPORT (Cheerleading is expected to be a priority commitment during the season. A single miss affects the entire squad: and impacts those cheerleaders who have committed to be at all practices and games)
UNEXCUSED ABSENCE
• Any absence (game or practice) that occurs that is not excused
CONSEQUENCES FOR UNEXCUSED ABSENCE
• A cheerleader is permitted 1 excused absence for practices/games per season. A second miss MAY be approved if at least one-week notice is given.
• NO EXCUSED ABSENCES WILL BE APPROVED FOR PARTICIPATION OF ANOTHER SPORT
TARDINESS: Consistent tardiness or leaving practice early will result in a miss occurring.
